About my internship

Image
Ever wondered how your smartphone camera instantly recognizes faces? Or how self-driving cars navigate through traffic? The answer lies in an incredibly powerful aspect of machine learning -  Object Detection .  Object detection is all about teaching machines how to identify specific objects within an image or a video. It's a two-part process: first, it finds where an object is (localization), and then identifies what the object is (classification). Localization is about pinpointing the position of an object within an image. The algorithm generates a bounding box around the object. Classification on the other hand, is about determining what the object is. It might be a cat, a car, or in our case, a traffic sign. As some of you may know, the main reason I was in Hanoï this summer was to work on a computer science project as my summer internship. The goal was to build a traffic sign detector using YOLO algorithm which is one of the most popular object detecto...

Ha Giang

Image
Hi there, let me tell you about one of the best trip I did while I was in Vietnam. It's a famous 290 km loop called Ha Giang loop. You begin your trip from Ha Giang and finish it in Ha Giang. Some also like to go to Cao Bang which is another city near Ha Giang but it's another 227 km drive. We did Cao Bang loop on a separate trip that I'll talk to you about later. So there we were on our bus to Ha Giang. We arrived around 2 am at our homestay . We decided to wake up at 5 am to dodge police control at the beginning of the loop. Unfortunately policemen were already up when we passed the police station and we had to pay a fine for not having motorbike driver's licences. There you can see the crew driving the motorbikes with confidence. Sapa

Image
During my first weekend in Vietnam, just after my arrival, we embarked on a thrilling two-day trip to Sapa. On Friday evening, we hopped on a comfortable bus departing from Hanoi. The bus provided ample space, allowing us to lay down and catch a few moments of restful sleep during the journey. Upon arriving at our homestay in Sapa, we encountered a minor confusion as no one was there to direct us to our designated rooms. Nevertheless, we took it upon ourselves to choose our accommodations for the night. The following morning, we were treated to a delightful breakfast of French "crepes" and refreshing smoothies at the homestay. Fueled up and ready to explore, we set out to discover the breathtaking landscape surrounding us. During our exploration, we had the privilege of witnessing the local ladies' impressive craftsmanship. They demonstrated the traditional art of weaving marijuana plants, skillfully transforming them into shirts. The experience was both fascinating and e...
